Hello and welcome to our new website where we hope to share with our customers, what and where things are happening in our small part of the world.

With the world now changing every day and nothing standing still, we hope we can keep you informed on initiatives both internally within SFML, but also what is new with our suppliers and especially with John Deere. One of the ways we intend to keep you informed is through our latest business newsletter, The Tractor Times with the inaugural edition just being released this May.

Feedback from many customers, both farmers and contractors is that the season ending is finishing as the most rewarding yet. Dairy farmers are not only enjoying record pay outs, but also record production for the season, while contractors have also reported their largest seasons to date. Sheep farmers are staying resilient as they always do, enjoying small gains in lamb and wool values while still planning for better returns.

The last nine months have produced a bull market in the tractor segment, with Southland & Otago’s markets having increased significantly. We are also happy to have maintained our high market share in this market, and wish to thank our many customers for their loyal support of our company, and we also welcome the many new customers that have come on board.

Of course with the large increase in both our market share, and the total market, this has put a strain on our ability to grow and support the many machines we have placed in the market. We take great pride in the support we provide our customers, ensuring minimal downtime is encountered when you need to get the job done. We are investing heavily in people and systems to ensure we can continue to strive to provide the best possible service and support available in Southland and Otago. We look forward to rolling out some new initiatives before next season, look out in our next Tractor Times edition for more details.

Finally a big thank you to our many staff for their efforts in supporting you, our customers in the season just ending. We ask our staff to go the extra mile for our customers, and they never shy away from putting in the overtime and effort to help our customers as best they can. Thank you.

Please enjoy this inaugural edition, and as always, we welcome any feedback you may have. Please stay warm this winter, and above all stay safe.
